Fashion Industry Club Maison Black Mentorship Program

The Fashion Industry Club Maison Black Mentorship Program, a signature initiative of the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM), is a six-month curriculum designed by Maison Black’s Founder and CEO, Tori Nichel. Tailored for aspiring black teen designers and entrepreneurs, this program provides intensive training in design, production, marketing, branding, and essential business skills. Industry mentors guide participants through the design process, culminating in the premiere of their designs at New York Fashion Week. This transformative experience not only imparts technical expertise but also instills a sense of self-efficacy as youth witness their garments gracing the runway in New York.

This cohort of youth fashion designers will showcase their Afrofuturism inspired looks at NeueHouse in New York City during New York Fashion Week on February 6, 2024, alongside fashion industry mentors.
