The Arts
ImageMakers: National Photography Program
This program helps Club members discover their artistic talents and explore
career options in photography. It provides resources for children to take photos
and learn to develop photos as well as edit and enhance digital photos. Club
members with exceptional photos are invited to compete in various contests
locally and regionally, culminating in the annual ImageMakers National
Photography Contest. Many photographic works are displayed at the local Clubs,
and winning photos are displayed at BGCA's annual National Conference and at
museums nationwide. The National Photography Program has gained an avid
following as it nears its 50-year anniversary in 2010.
National Fine Arts Program

Encouraging creativity through a variety of media is the goal of the National
Fine Arts Exhibit. Club members participate through classes and special events.
After creating unique pieces of art, they are invited to showcase their artwork
at local, regional and national exhibits, with the most popular pieces broadly
displayed. Young artists can select from one of nine categories: monochromatic
drawing, multicolored drawing, pastels, water color, oil or acrylic, print
making, mixed media, collage and sculpture. A national competition is held from
among four age divisions to select the best artwork, which is then displayed at
BGCA's annual National Conference and also tours the U.S. for one year. Talk
about recognition and achievement – this exhibit has a “wow” factor and can be
accessed from the web.
