Giving Back Never Felt So Good

If you’re looking for a high-impact volunteer opportunity that offers flexibility, a variety of assignments, and the chance to make a difference in a child’s life, you’ve come to the right place. Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan offers several ways in which you can help, including:

  • Become a mentor.  Develop a relationship with a child based on one-on-one time; provide academic and moral support; and be available to discuss matters that benefit from an adult’s viewpoint and guidance.
  • Help at a Club.  You may assist in many ways. Typically volunteers help kids with an activity or a leadership program. Needs vary throughout the year.
  • Apply your computer skills.  Help kids learn how to navigate the Web, do research for their homework, and be able to master software programs to build their skill set.
  • Leadership advisor.  Assist with our leadership development programs through discussion sessions, role modeling and other activities.
  • Become a coach or referee.  Many of our Clubs have teams for various sports or fitness activities, games, tournaments and leagues – like basketball, volleyball, flag football, dance. We need volunteers to help coach and train the kids and to referee the games, tournaments and leagues.
  • Tutor children.  Throughout the school year and into the summer, we need educated, dedicated adults who can help children with reading, writing, math and computer skills.
  • Assist at an event.  B&GCSM has golf outings, donor recognition dinners, awards ceremonies and outdoor events throughout the year. We often need people to help set up, clean up, serve as greeters.
