Headquartered in the heart of Detroit, Xenith is the industry leader in cutting edge football helmet technology. With helmets and
protective gear worn by hundreds of thousands of athletes worldwide, the company is uncompromising when it comes to athlete safety.
It is this level of commitment to excellence and innovation that makes Xenith a key advisor for Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM) as we embark on a two-year campaign to reimagine our Clubs as world-class spaces.
It is in this spirit of collaboration that Xenith CEO Ryan Sullivan invited BGCSM Club member, Chris to visit their headquarters for a guided tour of their 66,000-square-foot, state of the art facility and a one-one-one chat as part of our new Career Exploration program giving Club Members up close and personal access to business leaders in our community
Check out Chris’ interview with Ryan Sullivan below:
As you can see, Xenith goes hard at every step in the process to ensure that every athlete who wears their equipment can take the field with the confidence to play at their best.
So, what lessons can Xenith teach us as we #ReimagineBGCSM? Here are three key takeaways for our Club members:
Key Takeaway 1: Stick To Your Values Xenith is in the business of keeping athletes safe. Everything they do, from their innovative technology, to their manufacturing process, to their repeated testing of their product, is centered around lessening the severity of the hard hits absorbed by the three million plus youths and adults who regularly play tackle football each year.
Because they stick to their core values, the company’s helmets are among the highest-ranked football helmets for safety, worn by youth league players, high school teams, college athletes and NFL players.
Key Takeaway 2: Leaders Lead by Example: BGCSM cultivates leaders, and part of being a good leader is leading by example.
“As a leader, you’re setting an example for the team and you’re creating a vision of the future.” -Ryan Sullivan, CEO of Xenith
At the core of our goal to #ReimagineBGCSM is a mission to empower youth to become change agents for their life, Club, and communities. Our new Career Exploration track is one of the many ways in which we are doing just that.

#REIMAGINEBLACKHISTORY Today, Chris, 14 years old, from our Dauch Campus had an opportunity to spend time with Ryan Sullivan, CEO of @Xenith. Chris and Ryan discussed pathways to becoming the CEO of a major company, career exploration, and how to stay motivated once you’ve reached the top. What an incredible way to introduce our members to #REIMAGINEBGCSM, opening their eyes to endless possibilities in sports, on and off the field. #reimagine #urbanplanning #entrepreneur #socialentrepreneur #innovation #changeagents #worldclassexperience #urbandesign #datascience #assetmapping #urbanplacemaking #storytelling
Key Takeaway 3: Cultivate Good Friendships The friendships cultivated within our Clubs create lifelong bonds that can help shape and influence our Club members throughout their lives.
In like manner, our budding partnership with Xenith was cultivated through a preexisting friendship between BGCSM CEO Shawn H. Wilson and Xenith CEO Ryan Sullivan, who were classmates in Leadership Detroit Class XXXVI.
Stay tuned as our Club members embark on more benchmarking tours in our continued efforts to #ReimagineBGCSM.
